Cards with different shaped flowers on them
Where
Places with a diversity of flowers. E.g. Skinny
Woods, Hawkhill Wood, Innocent
Walkway, some areas of Craigmillar
Castle Park.
Why
To encourage children to notice different and similar shapes in their
natural surroundings.
How
Children can either work in small groups or alone. The object is to find
as many different flowers as they can with the same shape as on the card—without
picking them! Once a child or group has found as many objects as
they can of one shape, they can swap cards with another group and try
and find as many shapes as the other child / group did. Alternatively, a
child / group can get together with another child / group and show them
what they found.
This game can also be played by finding as many of
each shape as possible, in nature in general. |
